Reducing Substance in Urine

A reducing agent is investigated to determine whether carbohydrate molecules such as glucose, lactose, maltose, fructose, galactose and pentoses are present in urine. This indicates impaired carbohydrate absorption.
Interpretation:This test, especially for children, detects impaired absorption and digestion of carbohydrates in order to further investigate the causes of malabsorption.
Sample: Urine (spot).
Working day: Every day
Result Time: 2 hours later.
