Nasopharenx culture

Nasopharyngeal culture is a quick painless test. It is performed to identify the infectious organisms that cause upper respiratory system infections. The main bacterias to be identified are Bordetella Pertusis and Neisseria Meningitis and the antibiograms , to give the appropriate treatment to the patient.
Interpretation: If one of the bacterias is identified and antibiogram is performed, the treatment would be easy and fast. If the infection is not identified and not treated, the symptoms will be many rapid caughs followed by a high-pitched ‘whoop’sound, vomitting, exhaustion especially if the bacteria is Bordetella Pertusis which may cause bronchopneumonia and acute encephalopathy. If the bacteria is Neisseria Meningitis the symptoms will be rash of small red or purple spots which do not dissapear by pressure, vomitting, diarrhea, fever, limp pain, pale skin and cold hands which are the signs of bacterial meningitis which may cause brain damages, hearing loss and learning disabilities.
