Mumps IgG

Mumps is a paramyxovirus and causes infection of the salivary glands. Respiration, saliva, and urine are the routes of transmission. It usually develops in childhood. The infectious characteristic can be 1-3 days before the appearance of symptoms. The incubation period after infection is 14-21 days. It is recognised by slight pain in the parotid (salivary) gland.
Interpretation:IgM antibodies can be detected in the blood between 7-14 days after infection and indicate an acute phase of the disease. IgG-type antibodies, on the other hand, are detected in patients with a previous mumps infection or who have been vaccinated against mumps.
