Healthy kidneys filter waste from blood, including proteins such as albumin. Kidney damage may cause problems of overfiltration of too much protein from the blood albumin, being the first important protein to be filtered. Microalbumin is the test to detect the early signs of kidney damage.
Interpretation: The test is done, especially in patients with Diabetes and High Blood Pressure. If urinary microalbumin levels increase, the clinician may establish a close follow up procedure in order to control the possible kidney problems due to the pathology of the disease.
