It is an anaerobic gram variable bacteria involved in bacterial vaginosis. While typically isolated in in genital cultures, it may also be detected in samples from blood, urine and pharynx. It is mostly spread by sexual contact from each partner.
Interpretation: It may be asymptomatic or may have symptoms as vaginal irritation and fish-like odor. This smell may distinguish it from other infections as Trichomonas and Candida Albicans. It also causes a gray or yellow green discharge. If it is not treated, it increases the risk og getting other infections including HIV.In women. It may also cause preterm labour and delivery.
