Echinococcosis, or Cystic Echinococcosis (CE), is a common infection caused by the parasite Echinococcosis Granulosus. Parasite eggs found in animals or contaminated in food cause infection when humans ingest them orally. Parasite larvae are fluid-filled cystic formations in the body and cause tissue damage in various organs such as liver, lung, bone, spleen, brain, heart, kidney, pancreas.
Interpretation:A case of hydatic cyst is clinically indistinguishable and even a single test may not be conclusive. Therefore, specific results can be achieved with IgM, IgG type antibody tests.
