Chlamydia Trachomatis IgG

Chlamydia is an infection caused by the Chlamydia Trachomatis bacteria. It is usually spread through vaginal, anal or oral sex. Untreated chlamydia infection may lead to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility. PCR test detects the genetic material (DNA, RNA) of Chlamydia Trachomatis. Antibodies against Chlamydia infection, start to appear as IgA antibodies in 3-5 days of infection, followed by IgM antibodies IgM remains in blood until the appearance of IgG where the lifetime protecting antibodies are synthesized. This takes 1-2 months but sometimes both ıgM and IgG’s appear at the same time, in the first months of acute infection.
Interpretation:Antibodies to Chlamydia Trachomatis are used to detect past and present Chlamydia Trachomatis infection .The detection of spesific antibodies is also useful for follow up the stage of the infection of Chlamydia Trachomatis
