Beta Crosslaps

Beta Crosslaps(beta-CTX) are a part of Type I Collagen which overlap at C Termilnal ends. It is approximately %90 of the protein matrix of the bone.During bone resorption the molecule is excreted through kidneys.
Interpretation: CTX test is used in monitoring anntiresorptive therapies like hormone replacement therapy or biphosphonate therapies for osteopenic patients or postmenopausal women. MRONJ ( Medication Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw) is sometimes a result of medications of biphosphonates,antiangiogenic and cancer and osteoporosis treatments.This test is needed to monitor the effects of these complications.
