Barium

Barium is a heavy metal found in waste. It enters the body through inhalation, plants grown in barium-containing soil, and barium-containing water. In that case.It is a mineral with toxic effects. It is normally excreted in the urine and feces in 1-2 weeks. If not, hypokalemia (Potassium deficiency), hypertension and heartbeat abnormalities are observed.
Interpretation:A 70-kg person may have 2 mg/kg barium in the skeleton, 330 microg/kg in ocular tissue, 160 microg/kg in pulmonary tissue, and 50 microg/kg in dermal tissue. The typical value in the blood is accepted as 1-60 microg/lt.
