Antithrombocyte Antibodies

Antithrombocyte antibodies are antibodies in blood against Antithrombocytes which causes increased platelet clearance.
Interpretation: If a patient has a problem of decreased number of thrombocytes, the antithrombocyte antibody is the test which is performed to investigate whether the reason is caused by an autoimmune disease. In Idiopatic(autoimmune)Thrombocytic Purpura, the reason is the IgG type antibodies which bind to thrombocytes. This causes hemoragic bleedings, ischemic complications and stroke.
