ALP is an enzyme found throughout the body, but it is mostly found in the liver, bones, kidneys, and digestive system. ALP isoenzymes are a group of enzymes with different catalitic activities. ALP isoenzymes are found spesifically in bone, parathyroid, liver, placenta and intestine. Defining the fractions, brings useful criteria to diagnose the source of the elevation, if total ALP activity is high.
Interpretation:Determining the high fraction of the enzyme, shows where the problem is. Each isoenzyme is organ spesific. Therefore, the clinician may focus on the particular organ to diagnose and treat the case.
