Adenovirus DNA PCR

It is a non-enveloped DNA virus that usually affects the respiratory and intestinal systems. The virus is transmitted through direct contact with the skin of an infected person. In addition, the virus can be transmitted through the respiratory or fecal matter of an infected person, or through the use of shared toilets or swimming pools. The symptoms are similar to those of the common cold. It can also present with conjunctivitis, gastroenteritis, and inflammation of the stomach and intestines. Since the DNA of the virus itself is amplificated, it is the most spesific, accurate and fast technique for diagnosis.
Interpretation:Adenovirus infection is characterized by symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal swelling, and tenderness. Diagnosis is made by detecting adenovirus antigen through PCR and antigen tests on samples obtained from the suspected infection sites. There is usually no specific medication for adenovirus. Treatment is based on the doctor’s recommendations.
