Seasonal influenza and Metapneumonia Virus (HMPV)

Seasonal influenza cases are spreading rapidly especially in the late February days. Seasonal Influenza A, B, C, D) has been observed in all countries accompanied with a fewer case of Covid-19. Respiratory Disease is rare compared to all influnza types but Metapneumonia Virus (HMPV) infections have raised with frequent coughing and runny nose symptoms. According to the severity of the infection fever and asthma might also make hospitalisation necessary especially for children under 5 and adults above 65.

HMPV is an upper respiratort tract infection but in severe cases may lead to pneumonia or severe asthma. The treatment may require oxygen therapy and intravenous fluid support.

Precautions to avoid contamination is exactly the same as other influenza infections as personal hygiene, avoiding unventilated enviroment, avoiding contact with possibly infected people.
