Vitamin B6

Vit B6 plays a role in the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats, the production of neurotransmitters and the synthesis of nicotinic acid. Moreover, it participates in many transamination (amine molecule transfer from one molecule to another), decarboxylation (removal of carboxy molecule from a compound) , synthesis of some molecules like porphyrins, neurotransmitters glycogen catabolism and amino acid transsulfuration(transfer of a sulphate molecule from one amino acid to another). Because of its related functions, it plays an important role in brain function, metabolism of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates as the cofactor(functional group) of many enzymes.
Interpretation:If there is Vit B6 deficiency the symptoms will be skin rashes,cracked or sore lips,sore glossy tongue,neurologic changes,weakened immune function,fatique,tingling and pain in hands and feet and seizures. VitB6 excess by taking high doses of VitB6 causes lack of muscle control or ataxia,painful skin lesions,nausea and heart problems.
