Vaginal Culture

Vaginal culture is a swab specimen including cervical discharge, aspirated endocervical, endometrial fluids. The test is performed to find bacteria and fungus that can cause an infection causing abnormal vaginal discharge, vaginal or pelvic pain or irregular bleeding. The test is also called the endocervical culture.
Interpretation: The symptoms which make this test necessary is to diagnose and treat the bacteria causing Genital Herpes,chronic swelling and irritation of the urethra(urethritis),sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea and chlamydia and pelvic inflamatory disease. The identified germs may be trichomonas vaginalis,candida,group B Streptococcus,neisseeria gonorrhoae,gardnerella.
