It is done to detect pathogens such as bacteria and yeast in urine. These pathogens cause urinary tract infections and urine culture and antibiograms are requested when patients consult a doctor with complaints of sudden urge to urinate, burning feeling during urination, cloudy and foul-smelling urine and lower back pain.
Interpretation:Urine is cultured on a suitable medium and kept at body temperature. Different antibiotics are placed after the growth of bacteria and selective sensitivity is examined. Antibiogram result is reported and information is provided for theclinician to prescribe the correct antibiotic.

Result Time: Culture result will be ready after a maximum of two days and Antibiogram needs another 2 days (if bacterial growth is faster the antibiogram result will also be earlier. Laboratory consultion may be necessary.
