Theophylline isa a phosphodiesterase inhibiting drug, used in the treatment of respiratory diseases. These diseases may be Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and asthma. It relaxes bronchial smooth muscle, increases muscle contractivity, increases heart rate, increases blood pressure, increases renal blood flow, central nervous system stimulation on medullary respiratory center.
Interpretation: Theophylline has high dose side effects to be under doctor’s control during treatment.
