Stool Microscopic Analysis

It is a diagnostic test for the identification of parasitic organisms, including protozoa and helminths. Fecal leukocytes are also examined. Occult blood, fat, sugar (reducing substances), pH, Pancreatic enzymes, Alpha 1 Antitrypsin, Calprotectin and bacteria can also be examined. These will very quickly inform the clinician about the patient’s condition.
Interpretation:If the stool result is negative, the patient does not have an infection. If any of them test positive, treatment is required. An egg or parasite examination will point to infections they cause in the digestive tract. .If intestinal worm is suspected, a transparent tape will be attached around the anus. The worm’s eggs will adhere to the tape and will be visible under the microscope.
