Tuberclosis is a disease caused by a bacteria called micobacterium tuberclosis effecting the respiratory system. Tuberclosis infections include active and latent forms of the infections. Quantiferon test is a simple blood test to detect this bacteria. It is the modern version of Tuberculin skin test, which is not affected with a previous Bacille Calmette Guerin (BCG) vaccination.
Interpretation: This test is used for tuberclosis infection diagnosis. It is not affected by bacteria which are not related to tuberclosis infection. The test is known as QuantiferoTB Gold Plus Test which stimulates heparinized whole blood cells by using ESAT-6 and CFP-10 proteins .
