Lambda Light Chain

Light Chains are proteins made by white blood cells. It is a component (the other is Kappa Light chain) of an immunglobulin molecule and formed by linking up with heavy chains. The immun system B cells in lymphoid tissue, possess kappa or lambda light chains. They are in a certain proportion to each other but if the ratio balance is altered, this means that a neoplastic pathology has occured (multiple myeloma or Bence Jones proteinuria).
Interpretation: Kappa and Lambda light chains are in a certain proportion to each other but if the ratio balance is altered, this means that a neoplastic pathology has occured (multiple myeloma or Bence Jones proteinuria).
