Kappa light chain is a subunit of an antibody molecule.There are two types of light chians in humans. Kappa Chain and Lambda Chain (2:1 Ratio). If this ratio is changed, neoplasms may be suspected. If the ratio is maintained in proportion, the situation is considered to be normal.
Interpretation: Increased levels of light chains may be produced in Multiple Myeloma called Bence Jones proteinuria.
