Glucose Postprandial

As Daily blood glucose concentration is variable according to diet, stress and some other condutions, another parameter, the postprandial glucose which is more close to the diagnosis is done. Elevated postprandial glucose levels, may contribute to suboptimal glycemic control. This parameter together with other glycemic index parameters leads to correct and prompt diagnosis for diabetes.
The patient first gives fasting blood sample and another sample 2 hours after meal.
Interpretation:Blood sample 2 hours after the meal should be less than 140 mg/dl, means that the person is not diabetic or has moderate diabetes less than fasting 180 mg/dl ( the upper limit).
Sample: Arm vein blood. Fasting and 2 hours after meal.
