This test shows occult blood in the stool that cannot be detected by the normal eye. This test is especially done for patients over 50 years of age with anemia. The test is a screening test to find out the risk of colon carcinomas. The test should be done on 3 different samples.
Interpretation:If the test is positive, colon cancer, gastrointestinal bleeding, colitis, diverticulum, polyps, Inflammatory bowel diseases (Chorn disease), blood swallowing, hemorrhoids and some iron-containing drugs are suspected.
