Long Term Cardiovascular Outcomes Of COVID-19

Cardiovascular Disease Risks threatening  acute Covid-19 patients are well defined but long term manifestations have  not yet been comprehensively characterized. The authors selected databases of a cohort of 153760 individuals with Covid-19, as well as two sets of control cohorts of 5.637.647 contemporary controls and 5.859.411 historical controls to estimate the Cardiovascular disease risks of 30 days after the infection, as well as estimated risks of 1 year burdens with cardiovascular outcomes. They reported that after 30 days of infection either hospitalized or not hospitalized patients, showed increased  incidence of  cardiovascular diseases like cerebrovascular disorders, dysarythmias, ischemic and non ischemic haert diseases, pericarditis, myocarditis, heart failure and thromboembolytic diseases. The authors suggested that , due to the 30 days and 1 year burden of cardiovascular disease findings in survivors of acute Covid-19 are substantial and care should  be focused on cardiovascular health and disease.
