Allergy is a person’s extreme body reaction to any allergenic substance. Allergies may be hereditary. An allergic reaction typically triggers symptoms in the nose, lungs, throat, sinuses, ears, stomach, or skin. For some people, allergies can also trigger asthma symptoms.
Allergy symptoms vary from person to person. Symptoms may include itching, nasal congestion, frequent sneezing, chronic cough, shortness of breath or wheezing, rash or swelling on the body. The most dangerous reaction is the reaction we call ‘anaphylaxis’.
Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that may occur after contact with various poisons, food substances, medications, insect bites, exercise, radiocontrast substances, or in situations of unknown cause. After the development of anaphylaxis, people may experience narrowing of the respiratory tract, swelling of the tongue, wheezing, shortness of breath, low pulse and shock. Since anaphylactic shocks are sudden situations in certain or uncertain environments that the person is faced with, they require treatments aimed at resuscitating them without time for testing. Toxins found in all geographies can be different and have thousands of types. That’s why there are no such wide-platform test panels for anaphylaxis.
In the diagnosis of allergy, skin test (Prick test) and blood test are used. In the skin test, the most common allergens are used, the person’s skin reaction is measured, and in the blood test, the blood level of the IgE antibody, which the body creates to fight allergic reactions, is determined. If there are allergic symptoms to a certain substance or substances, the IgE level specific to those substances is measured.
Food and Inhalant Allergen Panels
If there is no allergen identified by the person, as a start, physicians can apply the ‘Specific Ige Inhalant panel’ for allergens that can be encountered through inhalation and the ‘Specific Ige (fx5) Food Panel’ tests, which include foods that can cause high allergic reactions, as frequently seen panels.

Food Intolerance Test
Another problem that is not an allergy but causes similar symptoms is food intolerance. Food intolerance is a health problem that occurs as a result of consuming certain foods. In this case, the body cannot digest some foods, which can cause various symptoms. While a protein in any food could previously be broken down during digestion due to various metabolic changes, infections and environmental reasons during life, due to a permanent or temporary defect in the relevant enzyme, the body now perceives the protein in that food as ‘foreign’ and forms a complex in unknown parts of the body. is accumulation. The accumulated substance is not IgE, which is studied in the allergy test, but IgG antibodies (the body’s response antibody to bacterial and viral infection). Depending on the location, this accumulation affects the metabolism of that area and causes some vague symptoms. The clinic cannot diagnose this and the patient feels helpless.
Symptoms of food intolerance can be listed as stomach problems, pain, tightness and burning sensation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, gas tightness, cramps, bloating, headache, anger and irritability, weakness, insomnia and fatigue.
Food intolerance can be diagnosed with a food intolerance test. In the food intolerance test, a food sensitivity test is performed and the diet is adjusted according to the results of this test.
Food intolerance tests containing 108 and 216 parameters are performed in our institution.
